A Criminal Defense Lawyer Sometimes a Moral Question

criminal defense lawyer

There are many jobs that put you in very interesting (moral questioning) positions. The head of a corporation that is closing American facilities to move over seas, the salesman who is selling something they do not believe in, and the criminal defense lawyer that defends the guilty.

The first two groups have no defense for their actions, their behaviors are unacceptable, but for the criminal defense lawyer there are two different ways to view it.

First all people in the United States have the right to adequate legal representation. So some one must defend them. My problem comes when they know they are guilty. So, I posed the question to one of my professors, why aren't lawyers required to tell when they know their defendant is guilty. I got this as an answer. Some people want to be guilty. This means that sometimes people are paid or compensated for taking a fall, which leaves the real criminal on the street. Beside the lawyer provides for the right to a trial by jury of peers. The lawyer passing judgment circumvents the whole legal system.

I guess this is the way it has to be so that the innocent get a fair trial.

Ridiculous Colorado Lawyers

Colorado Lawyers

Colorado lawyers are participating in the most ridiculous lawsuit I have ever heard of. Currently Mr. David J. Pfahler (age 60) and Marlenbe Ambrogio are suing Mr. Scott Swimm and his father Robert for $75,000.00. The $75,000.00 that Mr. Pfahler is suing for is to cover physical therapy and other related expenses that were incurred by Mr. Pfahler, due to a skiing accident allegedly caused by Mr. Swimm. Mr. Pfahler states that Mr. Swimm hit him on the slope with enough force that it caused him to fall and injury his shoulder.

So far this sounds like a normal civil case, but how many caught when I said and Mr. Swimm father. Mr Swimm is Scott Swimm an, 8 year old boy. Now, normally I feel if you are on a ski slope you should expect to fall. So to sue over a crash is pitiful anyway, but to sue an 8 year old, that is just stupid.

The suit it's self is laughable enough, but now Mr. Pfahler is pushing a gag order because he has become unpopular in the press. Apparently life is not so good for him now that some of the details have come out.

This suit is a joke and a complete waste of the U.S. District Court's time. I feel our courts have much better things to do. I can't believe any lawyer would ever take this case. Now I know some of you will say, "you don't know all the facts of the case." Bottom line the case involves an 8 year old.

One Way To Find A Lawyer!

Find A Lawyer

One way to find a lawyer is to get out the phone book and start reading every advertisement to even find a lawyer that specializes in your legal needs. If your lucky, you would have a referral from someone you know who has used that lawyer before. There are many people out there who have to rely on one of the above options.

You should really explore the internet. There are some websites such as lawyers.com that you can enter in your city, state, and type of lawyer you need, which would reduce the amount of lawyer advertisements you would have to go through. There is one other website available on the internet that you actually summarize your problem/lawsuit, enter the city and state of where you are, and then the website notifies the lawyer that there may be a case available. The lawyer will then accept and or decline your case and sometimes just offer you some advice.

Denver Lawyers Looking for a Life Sentence.

denver lawyer

Denver lawyers for the District Attorney's should be seeking a life sentence for Pedro Cortez. According to an article in today's Denver Post by H. Pankratz and K. Mitchell, who interviewed former District Attorneys, Pedro Cortez apparently shot his .44-claiber revolver into the air to celebrate the New Year. His bullet unfortunately traveled through a park and through a nearby house, killing an eleven year old girl and her forty-nine year old aunt.

According to the article and three former prosecutors, the DA will pursue charges of extreme-indifference first-degree murder. That basically means that Mr. Cortez knowingly engaged in conduct, which created a grave risk of death to a person or persons other than himself

Orlando Lawyer Appeal gets Conviction Overturned.

Orlando Lawyer

State Senator and Orlando Lawyer Gary Siplin received a reversal of his 2006 grand-theft conviction. Prosecutors charged and argued that Siplin knew that a staff member was working on his re-election on state time, costing the taxpayers over $9,000. On Friday of last week, the appeals court ruled that evidence in the case was circumstantial.

Siplin, who spoke about the conviction for the first time, was elated with the final outcome. The judge in the case did send two misdemeanor charges back to a lower court to a lower court to try him again. The senator was elected to the state house back in 2000, and became part of the Senate in 2002.
